It looks like the rain is going to hold off this weekend, so don’t fall victim to the Summertime Blues!
There’s more than enough going on this weekend to keep you occupied. As always, the Levitt Shell has a full line-up of music to enjoy.
7:30 p.m., Friday: The Slide Brothers
7:30 p.m., Saturday: Trampled Under Foot
7:30 p.m., Sunday: Eden Brent
The full line-up for the rest of the summer (including a couple favorites like Todd Snider and Ray Wylie Hubbard) is right here so plan accordingly.
Have you visited Three Angels over on Broad Ave. lately? What about Memphis Cash Mob — heard of it? They support locally owned and operated businesses by “mobbing” the location on a designated day and spending cash. Saturday, June 8, all day, Memphis Cash Mob is mobbing a restaurant for the first time. Grab some lunch at Three Angels before heading out. All the info is on the Facebook event page.
Saturday afternoon is A Day of Merrymaking in Overton Park. Designed for the whole family, Overton Park will be full of food trucks, musical performances, face-painting, storytelling, along with myriad other things. For the dogs: Overton Bark is having a costume contest for the canines, if you want to show your dog a good time. (If you would like to show your dog a not-good time, but be a responsible pet owner, they’re also microchipping pets on-site for a great price of $20.) Find all the details here.
Also happening Saturday? Three Artists, One Yard! Our own Myla Smith, fresh from recording sessions for her new record in Nashville, is performing. Details about her performance are here.
Sunday, you have a couple great opportunities to finish off the weekend.
You’ll have another chance to see Myla – she’s broadcasting live on Stage It at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Watch/hear anywhere in the world from StageIt.com.
Next up: Goner Records is shooting a commercial! That’s right, just months from the 10th anniversary of Goner Fest, they’re stepping out into the world of film commercials. The best part is, adhering to their eclectic nature, they’re looking for all sorts of people to make appearances. We’ve got details over on Tumblr if you want to be a part of filming.
Now that we’ve planned out a pleasant little weekend for you, check in with the team over I Love Memphis to fill in the gaps. See you out there this weekend, everybody!
