Some people just have “Dumb Luck.” American Fiction happen to be some of those people.
It all started when Chris Johnson (guitar/lead vocal) decided to take a chance, a shot in the dark, and reach out to legendary rock producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles) by sending him a demo of the aptly titled “Dumb Luck.” Chris never thought Kramer would read the message so, why not?
But it turns out – he did read it. He heard the song. And he liked it. The rest? Well, that’s the best part! The guys spent 2013 working with Kramer in Nashville and L.A. to record their debut EP. The first single is “Dumb Luck,” the song that started it all.
In honor of the single dropping today the band will play a release show this Friday at the Poplar Lounge. Show time is 9 p.m., and your $5 cover not only gets you in, but also includes a download of the single.
