After seven grueling weeks on the road with the tirelessly touring rock band Lucero, keyboardist and beloved accordion man Rick Steff returned to Memphis to play a homecoming show on the rainy banks of the Mississippi River for Beale Street Music Festival. Next on the agenda? Release his very first solo EP, Rick’s Booogie, out May 7 via Archer Records.
Rick’s Booogie consists of three arrangements he came up with while recording soundtrack bits for Jeff Nichols’ film Mud, currently in theaters. The songs, all three written by Steff, exhibit his fantastic talent as well as his knack for creating music that makes you want to get up and get down. His Lucero bandmates make an appearance on song two as his backing band.
The occassion has gotten some great love from the internet – check out Rick’s interview with Michelle Evans of The Vinyl District here and his interview with Jeremy Winograd here.
