If you saw the forecast for this weekend, you’re probably ready to think about the fall — we are, too. But here’s why: new releases from Signal Flow artists!
First up: The Summers. They’re finishing up their first full-length album. Wesley, Jared, Branson and Peter say It’s No Life Story is more mature and more authentic. “I feel like this album is exactly how we want to be perceived by the world and our entire fan base. As a band and as musicians, I feel like we’ve grown a lot in writing these new songs,” Branson says. “We’ve all put all of our heart and soul into recording every single one of them.”
The Summers will celebrate the release August 9 at Newby’s, alongside a stacked line-up of bands that includes A Plea for Purging and As Hell Retreats as they come through Memphis on their farewell tour. Dime Fiction, Louder, and Yet. will also be playing. You get it all for only $10. Doors open at 6 p.m. — and if you need some convincing, take a listen to the first single from the album, “Benny,” below.

Next up: Chris Milam. He’ll release a new record this September, and if you’ve been following his progress on PledgeMusic you’ve already heard a few demos that will be included on the finished product. In the meantime, Chris has a few shows coming up. He’ll be at Otherlands on July 21 at 8 p.m. playing in the round alongside Susan Marshall and Mark Stuart, and you can catch him at the HiTone on Friday, August 10 — be sure to wish him a happy birthday! Plans for the record release show are still in the works, but stay tuned to Chris’s Facebook fan page for the latest.
