Spend enough time in Memphis and sooner than later, the blues will find a way into your soul.
Born and raised in Memphis, Patrick Dodd has spent the majority of his musical career on the outskirts of the blues; embracing the traditional chord progressions and learning to channel the emotional experience into his songs. After a successful run with the Patrick Dodd Band in the mid 90’s, Dodd left music to focus on his young family. Almost 10 years and a lifetime of difficult experiences later, he’s returned to his roots and found his true voice in the shadow of the blues. Patrick has quickly become a staple on the blues scene in Memphis and won the favor of the legendary Blues icon, Bobby “Blue” Bland who called him the day before his sold out 80th birthday celebration and said, “Son, you got an old soul. You just got to let go and play from your heart. Don’t you worry about finding somebody to help you – play from your soul and they’ll find you!”
Often compared to Albert King, Marc Broussard, Johnny Guitar Watson and Mississippi Fred McDowell, Dodd’s soulful style is a fiery mix of passion, melody, rhythm and soul. He is the bridge between the roots of blues music and the contemporary influence of southern rock, roots and jam music.
