Recording Academy features region’s best new recordings 6/26

June 25, 2014 · Signal Flow

The Recording Academy Memphis Chapter’s annual member celebration puts the region’s recordings in the spotlight on Thursday at the Stax Museum of American Soul.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the museum and check out “And the GRAMMY Goes To Memphis,” an exhibit curated for the rotating space at the museum’s close to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Memphis Chapter. The highlight of the evening, though, will be a listening session that shines a light on the sounds of legendary GRAMMY Hall of Fame Recordings, along with some of the region’s best recorded music from this year. Featured artists include Wendy Moten, Kirk Whalum, John Kilzer, American Fiction, Amy LaVere, Mark Edgar Stuart, The Bar-Kays, The Memphis Dawls and many more. Some tracks will be premiering that night and slated for official release on albums coming out later in 2014.

The event will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, located at 926 E. Mclemore Ave. To learn more, visit the Memphis Membership Celebration page on Facebook or go directly to the RSVP form.

For more information about membership in The Recording Academy or to RSVP for the event, call (901) 525-1340 or email Memphis@grammy.com.
