Finally, there’s a chill to the air! So what else is chill around town? We have a few events this weekend worth enjoying.
Faith Evans Ruch is performing at the world-famous Poplar Lounge this evening. Doors are at 9 p.m. and music begins at 10 p.m. Just $5!
Scott Biram returns to the Hi-Tone tonight. Scott swings through Memphis pretty often and always plays to a crowd, with good reason. Purchase tickets here, and bring a friend!
Also, taking over the Buccaneer Lounge tonight, psychedelic surf rockers Daikaiju! If you’ve never witnessed surf rock in person, then this is something you need to experience. Here’s a taste:
Saturday night is the Red Boa Ball, a benefit for the Red Cross. It’s going on at the Memphis Botanic Gardens and immediately followed by the Just Red After Party, featuring the DJ stylings of Hollywood and Paula Raiford. More details can be found on their website.
Guess what else is happening Saturday evening? Robert Gordon will be at the Stax Museum for a reading of his book, “Respect Yourself: Stax Records and the Soul Explosion.” Afterwards, he’ll be signing some copies and there will be live music by the Stax Music Academy Rhythm Section!
Sunday, wind down at Huey’s on Poplar with Loveland Duren, who are performing at the East Memphis location beginning at 8:30 p.m. It’ll still be cold, so take advantage of Huey’s delicious potato soup! If you haven’t checked out Loveland Duren yet, here’s their new video, featuring a couple other Memphis musicians who are popular in their own right!
Get out there, see some music, and tweet us while you’re there! Have a good weekend!
